Evia is also one of the most accessible of Greek islands. The ferry terminal at Rafina, is only 30 minutes from Athens International airport The crossing to Marmari takes an hour and it is then a 15 minutes drive to Karystos. Alternatively it is also connected to the mainland by a road bridge at Chalkida in case of inclement weather.
Kalivia In the nearby village of Kalivia there is a bakery and tavernas, within a 10 minute walk
KARYSTOS
Karystos, is the largest town in southern Evia, with bus services to Maramaa, Styra and Athens. It has a full range of facilities including banks, shops, supermarkets, chemists and a hospital. It offers a wide choice of restaurants and tavernas in its side streets and on its waterfront. Karystos is a pleasant town with a castle and an ancient fort next to the sea.
