The Saronic islands Poros town

Poros is a verdant island and the town itself occupies a stunning position on a hillside overlooking the port and the busy waterfront. Poros is an upmarket location with good sandy beaches and a wide range of tavernas, cafes and bars. It is a popular yachting destination.

Because of its proximity to Athens and Piraeus and the frequent hydrofoil and ferry services, there is always a strong demand for property on Poros. It is also possible to drive to Galatas on the Pelopponese mainland and then take the 5 minutes ferry to cross over to Poros town.

Only a narrow strip of water separates this tiny island from the dramatic mountain scenery and beautiful beaches of the Peloponnese. The crossing by small car ferry to the  town of Galatas takes only five minutes. Alternatively the hydrofoil service provides a relaxing and speedy way of getting to see the other islands in the group, such as Hydra, Spetses, Aegina and Angistri
