The island of Poros is one of the jewels of the Saronic islands. It is easily accessible with regular ferry and hydrofoil services from Piraeus. By road it is a two and a half hour drive, much of it by motorway, from Athens to Galatas on the Peloponnese mainland. From Galatas there are frequent water taxis for the 3 minute crossing to Poros town, as well as a small car ferry which takes five minutes for the crossing.
Poros is a verdant island, with sheltered bays, and coves and small sandy beaches providing opportunities for swimming. The mountain backdrop provides an attractive setting for the picturesque town, with its lively waterfront lined with tavernas, bars and coffee shops. The busy waterfront is a a haven for the yachtsman.
Because of the easy access from Piraus and Athens, properties on Poros have proved to be a worthwhile investment.
