The peninsula which is on the east coast of the Peloponnese is attached to the mainland by a narrow strip of land. This carries the road to Methana town. Here is the home of the renowned spa baths which attract visitors from all over Europe.

A spectacular range of mountains dominates the peninsula. Pretty rural villages, nestle in the foothills and on the lower slopes. In Methana Town there are hotels, coffee shops, tavernas and a small marina. The ferry port receives the ferries from Piraeus. Some 10 minutes away is the famous fishing village of Vathi with tavernas offering fresh fish and ouzo.

From Methana there is easy access to some of the most important archaeological sites of Greece, including Epidavros, Mycenae, Nafplion, Argos, Vytina, ancient Olympia, Ancient Corinth and Delphi, whilst Trizinia the birth place of Theseus, is only ten minutes away.


There is a regular all year round ferry service from Piraeus to Methana which takes approximately two hours. Local bus and taxi services run from Methana to Galatas. The journey by car directly from Athens International airport is approximately two and a half hours. Much of this is now by motorway. Local bus service from Methana Town cover most of the villages on the peninsula.
