GREECE LUXURY VILLA FOR SALE

A 4 bedroom luxury villa for sale on the island of Kythira, tucked away on a hillside, with spectacular sea views, overlooking the straits of Maleas. This magnificent villa, built in 1972 by Dutch architect George Koksma, is in the style of internationally renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Koksma also lived on Kythira and used his local knowledge to select stone from various parts of the island, enabling him to create unique multi coloured external and internal stone features.

The plot of 8,200 sq.m. has been carefully landscaped to provide gardens and terraces which provide a blaze of colour throughout much of the year. As well as an olive grove with 40 olives, the gardens include mature palm trees, oleander, bougainvillea, jasmine, roses, lavender and geranium and wild growing herbs. There are also citrus trees, pear, almond and pomegranate trees.

The villa and garage are approached from a surfaced drive, whilst a second drive leads to the terraces of the landscaped gardens.

The villa which provides a generous  381 sq.m. of accommodation, was designed to take full advantage of the natural light.  The rooms are large and airy, with high ceilings and full length floor to ceilings windows which provide panoramic views of the gardens and the nearby coast. The accommodation is as follows;

FIRST FLOOR

The entrance to the villa is at first floor level and comprises

Entrance hall leading to mezzanine floor

Main hall, 2 storeys high, with marble staircase leading down to ground floor

Two double bedrooms, each with en suite facilities and doors leading onto a patio

KYTHIRA

Kythira is an unspoilt island lying off the southernmost tip of the Peloponnese. It is popular with walkers, bird watchers and those interested in wild flowers, as well as with artists and writers who come to obtain inspiration from its natural beauty and with those who just want to enjoy its blissful peace and quiet.

Demand for property on the island has remained strong as buyers from many European countries escape to what is an idyllic lifestyle.

There is a mini market and other shops at Agia Pelaga which is 1 km from the house and at Potamos a new hospital has been completed and and became fully operational in 2015.

The island is well served by transport facilities. There is a daily ferry service to the mainland at Neapoli, as well as weekly or bi weekly sailings to Kalamata, Piraeus & Crete

Kythira has its own airport with daily flights to Athens and twice weekly flights to Crete, Kefalonia and Corfu, which enable people to take advantage of cheap flights  from the UK and many other parts of Europe, instead of flying into Athens.
