Koskina is a traditional rural Greek village where life centres around the village square. Situated in south central Evia, Koskina is close to the wild bird sanctuary at Lake Distos and is some 30 minutes from the small resort of Styra where the ferries arrive from Rafina on the mainland. Koskina has two beautiful small bays which are quiet even in the height of summer and which are ideal for swimming and snorkelling.
The stone farmhouse buildings provide a total of 143 sq.m. of accomodation and are set on a plot of 661 sq.m. Being located towards the top of the village, the property command views across the valley to the neighbouring hills and to Lake Distos.
Koskina has two tavernas in the village square and there is also a cafe and a small supermarket. The nearby town of Aliveri has all main facilities including supermarkets, banks, chemists and medical services.
Koskina is a quiet and peaceful location where often the only sounds to be heard are the braying of a donkey and the bells of the goats. It is an ideal location either for a holiday home or a permanent residence.
The farmhouse itself consists of 3 large rooms, whilst the lower outbuildings once comprised the wine press with a storeroom and cellar.
Water and electricity are already connected.
The property requires complete renovation, including new roofs.
Evia is one of the few Greek islands which has the benefit of being without an airport and it has not suffered from the depredations of package tourism. Despite the lack of an airport it is easily accessible throughout the year. As well as two ferry terminalswhich serve Koskina, it is also connected to the mainland by a road bridge at Halkida. Athens international airport is only a 45 minute drive to the ferry terminal at Agia Marina and the crossing to Styra takes a further 45 minutes. |
